Stun & bleed

FSV Group has spent several years developing innovative concepts for stun & bleed vessels. Currently, FSV operates two vessels and has several more under construction.

What is a stun & bleed vessel?

FSV Group’s stun & bleed vessels are advanced ships specialized in slaughtering fish at the site. The vessels pump the fish from the cages to the ship, sort and count them, and then transfer them to the stun & bleed system. After the stun & bleed system, the fish are stored in RSW (Refrigerated Sea Water) tanks, which maintain a consistent cold temperature. The fish are then transported to the processing plant.

Advantages of Using Process Vessels:

  • Reduces handling of fish, which also reduces stress.

  • Eliminates the risk of mortality during transport and storage in holding cages.

  • Closed transport increases biosecurity and flexibility.

  • Higher efficiency, leading to more sustainable and profitable fish transport and slaughter.

  • Reduces the risk of disease transmission between sites.

  • Ensures high fish quality due to rapid cooling.

HSE

FSV Group always puts Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) first.

FSV wants to offer a safe and attractive working environment, in which well-being, cooperation, and mastery of tasks are in focus. We do this by ensuring that our employees have the necessary qualifications to perform their tasks safely and healthily.

Before a new work operation is commenced, the procedures require a risk assessment and risk analysis to be carried out. Personal protective equipment is also mandatory for all work operations. All personnel are obliged to go through safety training. The FSV systematically evaluates any near-accidents and incidents to implement preventive and corrective measures to avoid personal injuries, impacts on the external environment, and loss of assets.
